BRINGING VALUE TO CRAFT - OUR PRODUCTION

Michaela Buerger always stood out for the delicacy of its handknits and the technicality of its models, which require an expert's skill.

When we say handknit, we mean it is knitted by hand with two knitting needles and a thread of wool or yarn. Every embroidery, button, and label is hand-sewn.

Working with collectives of master female knitters in Bosnia-Herzegovina, Romania, and Sri Lanka, our knits help to protect, promote, and preserve the handcrafts of female knitters.

Purchasing a Michaela Buerger knit brings new value to traditional craft, not only helping to create better conditions for those making our pieces - often women in rural communities - but this investement also enables the continual transfer of artisan skills from generation to generation, helping to ensure a career in craft can still be viable and desirable profession.

Keeping culturally important artisan processes alive is ever more critical in a faster and evermore automated world, a unique know-how that ensures impeccable knit and high-quality luxury clothing.

Our commitment to quality is not just about luxury, it's about practicality and longevity. Drawing on traditional Alpine knit techniques, our garments are    designed to be warm and durable, just like they were in the past. This ensures that our knits are built to last, providing you with a timeless piece that will keep you warm for years to come.

The choice of our yarns - pure wool, mercerized cotton, and cashmere blends-further enhances the durability and comfort of our handknit clothing collections.

Michaela Buerger is committed to 'reasoned production ', a term we use to describe our sustainable and ethical manufacturing practices. We favor reasoned stocks for better control of production and relaunch production on its best-sellers. This approach allows us to minimize waste and ensure that our production aligns with the demand, reducing our environmental footprint and promoting responsible consumption.
